How to Schedule a Road Test

You have completed Driver Education - What are the next steps?

Road Test Applicants must have a vehicle to use that meets all requirements.  Visit the RMV website for details.

Students in need of a vehicle meeting the RMV requirements (e-brake located in the center console), should contact Rich Dushanek at [email protected]  or at 978-393-5455  to discuss and schedule the use of the Driver Ed vehicle and sponsor. The fee for this service is currently $125.

After you have completed your required classroom instruction and driving lessons, and your parent/guardian has attended the RMV-Mandated Parent Meeting, your Driver Education course is complete.

The next step is to schedule your Road Test. Before you can schedule your Road Test, you need to submit the following documents to the Driver Ed office.
• Your yellow card
• A copy of your learner's permit
• A completed  Modified Observation Requirement - Wavier for Junior Operations Parent/Guardian Affidavit of Completion (for those who have learner's permits issued prior to May 29, 2021 and who have done the Parent/Guardian observations)

The paperwork is submitted to the RMV for processing; it takes 1-2 business days for them to receive and process it.  After that time, you can go online to the RMV website and schedule a license test appointment (if eligible).

A fully completed Class D or M Road Test application form is required. You will not be able to take your Road Test with out this form, which needs to be completed and be signed by a parent. Leave the sponsor section blank.

Visit Preparing for a Road Test to view videos about the test process.

Questions? Contact Rich Dushanek at [email protected] or  978-393-5455.
If you choose this option, you will schedule the test at mass.gov/rmv approximately 7-10 business days after your paperwork has been submitted. The process may take 20 minutes or more; please be patient. A helpful hint: We recommend that students pre-pay for their licenses and Road Tests while on-line. This will save time waiting at the RMV on the day of the Road Test. You may also want to pre-pay on the day you get your Learner's Permit.
